Service Area
Our Tucson skylight service area covers the city and most of Pima County. Repair, replacement, new installation and solar light tubes, on tile, shingle, flat and foam roofs.
Different parts of the county bring different problems, mostly because of when the homes were built and what is on the roof. Here is roughly what we run into where.

Tucson
Central and midtown Tucson has the oldest housing stock we work on, along with a lot of flat and low slope roofs. Mid century homes near the university and central corridors often have original curbs that were never built up high enough above the roof surface, which is why so many of them leak in a way more sealant will not fix.
Catalina Foothills
Custom and semi custom homes, heavy on tile roofs, and often several skylights per house. Tile work is more labor than shingle because the tile has to be cut and notched around the opening, and the flashing has to tie into a tile pan system properly.
Oro Valley
A lot of eighties and nineties construction with builder grade acrylic domes that are now well past their useful life in this sun. Yellowed and cloudy lenses are the most common call we get out here.
Marana And Dove Mountain
Newer stock than central Tucson, but plenty of it is now twenty to thirty years old, which is when builder grade units start failing. Also the fastest growing part of the metro, so we see new installation work here as well as replacement.
Tanque Verde
Larger lots, custom homes and some genuinely old construction mixed in with newer builds. Skylight counts per house tend to run high.
Vail, Sahuarita And Corona de Tucson
Newer subdivisions where most of the work is new installation rather than replacement. Rooms that were built without daylight and homeowners who want it added.
Green Valley And SaddleBrooke
Retirement communities with a lot of homes on a similar build clock, which means skylights that all age out around the same time. Many of these are HOA governed, and we are used to working within those requirements.
Casas Adobes And Rita Ranch
Volume tract housing, largely built in the same windows with the same units. If your neighbor needed a skylight replaced, there is a fair chance yours is the same age and the same model.
What We Handle Across The Service Area
Skylight repair for leaks, cracked lenses, failed seals and yellowed domes. Replacement, including acrylic to glass upgrades. New installation in rooms that have never had daylight. Solar light tubes for hallways, closets and bathrooms with no exterior wall. Commercial skylights on flat and low slope roofs. Attic ventilation, and the roofing work around a skylight.
Why The Whole Tucson Skylight Service Area Has The Same Problem
Wherever you are in Pima County, the sun is doing the same thing to your roof.
Acrylic domes yellow, cloud over and go brittle under this much UV. That is not a defect and it is not something you did wrong. It is what plastic does after fifteen or twenty years in Arizona, and it happens on a fairly predictable clock.
The second thing that is universal here is the monsoon. Wind driven rain finds every failed seal and every curb that was not built up high enough, which is why our phone gets busy in July and August. The leak was usually there for months. The storm just made it obvious.
What changes from neighborhood to neighborhood is the roof material and the age of the units, and that is what determines the repair rather than the diagnosis.
